New Delhi (ABC Live): India has entered a transformative stage of its digital growth. Google, together with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, has announced a 1-gigawatt (GW) hyperscale data centre and AI hub in Visakhapatnam.

A 1-GW data centre represents the new frontier of digital infrastructure. It can handle workloads requiring up to 1,000 megawatts of power, roughly the electricity consumed by one million homes.

In essence, such a facility allows India to process large AI and cloud workloads locally, instead of routing them through Singapore or Europe. Consequently, latency drops, while energy efficiency and data security improve.
