Final Decision on Venue of Champions Trophy by March 2009

Karachi (ABC Live): The ICC will take final decision on venue of Champions Trophy by March 2009, whether the Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy or not, as some of the teams have raised security concerns.

Karachi (ABC Live): The ICC will take final decision on venue of Champions Trophy by March 2009, whether the Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy or not, as some of the teams have raised security concerns.

Tournament was to be held in Pakistan from September 12 but has been postponed due to the security reasons. Next date of the tournament will be decided in the meeting of ICC going to be held on September 11 and 12. But the final decision on venue of eight nation tournament will be taken in March.

The ICC member countries would asses the situation of Pakistan, if the situation changes in the next six months then the Champions Trophy would be hosted by the Pakistan.

Assessments about the security situation in Pakistan will start from Indian team's tour to Pakistan in early January.

If in case some countries still refuse to play in Pakistan next year, then the ICC will relocate it but Pakistan would get compensation of USD three million which is the hosting fees for the event.
