Among died were two women who died in want of medical help during rescue operation by police, which saved more than sixty persons from the site.

The state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked the government machinery to get ready for and such eventualities as meteorological department have warned severe weather conditions in coming days.

Mehboob Iqbal, Divisional Commissioner told ABC Live that that 43 snow clearing machines had been pressed into service in the Valley out of which 27 are deployed in districts of Kulgam, Anantnag and Shopian which received maximum snowfall in this season.. The world famous winter resort of Gulmarg was also connected despite 8 ft snow in this region was recorded.
