India to Build 2,162 km Roads in North East States

New Delhi (ABC Live): India will build 2,162 km of roads in the north east states during 2010-12.

 

New Delhi (ABC Live): India will build 2,162 km of roads in the north east states  during  2010-12.

Information and confirmation to this effect was shared by Indian Defence Minister A K Antony told the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Indian government had allocated Rs 4,749 crore since the 2006-07 fiscal, out of which it utilised Rs 3,411 crore to build 1,512 km of road in the north east.

Procurement manual of BRO, too, were simplified and adequate budgetary resources made available.

More financial powers were delegated to field functionaries of BRO, apart from permitting out-sourcing of contract.
