Indian Army's High Altitude Warfare School Men Trapped in Avalanche

Khilanmarg (ABC Live): At least 40 personnel of the Indian Army's High Altitude Warfare School were reported trapped in an avalanche in Khilanmarg on Monday.

 

Khilanmarg (ABC Live): At least 40 personnel of the Indian Army's High Altitude Warfare School were reported trapped in an avalanche in Khilanmarg on Monday.

Army and police rescue teams have been rushed to the spot.

It is to mention that Snow Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) had issued an avalanche warning on Sunday.

The high danger avalanche Areas are as followed Sonamarg, Gagangir, Bhimbat, Drass, Batalic, Dhudi and S M Hills in Kargil district.

whereas medium danger of avalanche warning areas included Khilanmarg, Uri, Baaz, Razdan Top, Z-Gali,Keran, Furkian top, Machil, Sadna Top, Urez, Niru, Baruab andChowkibal in Kupwara and Baramulla districts of North Kashmir.

Areas where low danger avalanche warning exists include both sides of Jawahar Tunnel, the gateway to Kashmir, and its adjoining areas on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
