Chandipur (ABC Live): India on Tuesday test fired Agni-III missile, Surface to surface IRBM from Chandipur Indian Army's Integrated Test Rang at Chandipur in Orissa coastal line.

Chandipur (ABC Live): India on Tuesday test fired Agni-III missile, Surface to surface IRBM from Chandipur Indian Army's Integrated Test Rang at Chandipur in Orissa coastal line.

The Agni-III is capable of carrying nuclear war head with firing range of 3,500-km. This deadly weapon is fitted with on board computer which can guide missile on its trajectory.

It is to remember that today test fight was its third test of Agni-III as it was first done on July 9, 2006 but result was not fruitful and second time again IRBM missile was successfully tested on April 12, 2007.

The detailed result of Wednesday test will be known after complete analysis of all data received from today test fire.

What is Agni III?

Agni III an intermediate-range ballistic missile developed by Indian government's Defence Research and Development Organization.

Agni III is considered as India’s nuclear deterrent against China as it has firing range up to 3500km.

Agni specifications:

1. Length: 16 m

2. Diameter 2.0 m

3. Warhead: Strategic nuclear (15 KT to 250 KT), conventional HE-unitary, penetration, sub-munitions, incendiary or fuel air explosive.

4. Engine 3500-5500 km

5. Launch platform 8 x 8 Tatra TELAR (Transporter erector launcher) Rail Mobile Launcher.

The Wednesday test fires will open door for Agni-VI which will have firing range over 6000 km.
