Cong Gears Up To Disqualify Bishnoi, Natwar And Azmi

New Delhi (ABCLive) – The Congress Party has sought disqualification of suspended party MPs Kuldeep Bishnoi (Bhiwani, Lok Sabha), Natwar Singh (Rajya Sabha) and Maulana Obaidullah Khan Azmi (Rajya Sabha) from respective house.

Speaker Forwards Petition   

Acting on Kuldeep Bishnoi’s disqualification petition that was filed by Congress MP from Faridabad Avtar Singh Bhandana, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Friday forwarded the petition to Kuldeep Bishnoi for his comment.

 Floats Regional Outfit  

Kuldeep Bishnoi along with his father and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has floated a regional outfit Haryana Janhit Party (BL) last year as father-son duo was disappointed with party leadership. Congress Party has already sought disqualification of Bhajan Lal from state assembly along with his two MLA supporters.

 Natwar, Azmi’s Case Before Privilege Committee  

Party’s chief whip in house V Narayanaswamy has filed disqualification petition against K Natwar Singh and Azmi. Their case has already been referred to the privilege committee headed by Rajya Sabha deputy chairman K Rehman Khan.

 Schedule 10  

Anti-defection law incorporated in constitution under schedule ten provides disqualifications of members from house on three basis

 

-         Voluntary giving up membership

-         Voting against party

-         Violating Party’s whip in house

 

Meanwhile, recently, the disqualification of three BSP MPs by speaker on the basis on openly criticising their party leadership gave wide scope to anti-defection law.
